Marietta City Schools is partnering with the Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development and its Foster Grandparent Program.
The federally-funded program of AmeriCorps Seniors has been sponsored locally by COAD since 1972.
“We look forward to recruiting income-eligible seniors 55+ in your nearby communities of Washington County to become a stipend-reimbursed volunteer in the classrooms of the district,” says Kirk Guisti, Coordinator, COAD Area I Senior Programs. “Our volunteers help children/youth through mentoring, social/emotional/motor skill development all under the direction of the teaching staff. No experience is necessary except for the love and patience to help children/youth succeed to their individual full potentials.”
